Lauren Nitka

Miss Nitka grew up in Greendale, WI, a historic village in southern Milwaukee County. In college, while pursuing a degree in art, Miss Nitka also found her calling to work with children while volunteering at an emergency shelter on the South Side.

Attending Wisconsin Lutheran College, Miss Nitka earned her degree and licenses in K-12 Art Education and Elementary Education. During college, she taught 6-12th grade college readiness courses, including college bootcamp, Shakespeare, and reading, for students attending parental choice schools in Milwaukee.

Post college, Miss Nitka taught for 6 years in the Oak Creek Franklin Joint School District. Her favorite part of teaching art is the opportunity to teach returning students year after year, watching them grow as both artists and people. In her classroom, she encourages students to create a variety of art, explore art from around the world, and connect with one another.

Miss Nitka continues to work as a professional artist in the Milwaukee area.
