After moving to Milwaukee with her family, Mrs. Burnett taught at a private school and later at one of the MPS IB schools. Between both schools, she taught all levels of Spanish. She has also worked for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Community Services as a recruiter for foster care and adoption, where she helped form partnerships with nonprofits and agencies within the Hispanic community.

Mrs. Burnett is part of the founding group of teachers at Aug Prep, teaching Spanish for the first two years. Since then she served as the School Success Coordinator for the elementary and middle schools, currently serving the middle school in this role.

Sara Burnett grew up in a bilingual and multicultural household. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Hispanic Studies at the University of Puerto Rico in Río Piedras. She then went on to complete her teaching certificate at the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón, in San Juan.  She also completed the Emerging Leaders Program for educators through City Forward Collective, Milwaukee.

Mrs. Burnett enjoys spending time with her husband and three sons. She loves watching baseball and basketball games, and spending time outdoors. She is passionate about education, linguistics, and human behavior. You will often find her reading and studying about all three.
