Erica Johnson

Ms. Johnson began her teaching career as a special education teacher at a public school. She served in this capacity for more than 5 years. Subsequently, she accepted a position as a Program Support Teacher on a city-wide evaluation team. In this position, she supported teachers by offering professional development related to students with special needs.

 

Since then, Ms. Johnson has taught reading, writing, religion, and other content area classes. Her work has afforded her an opportunity to work in both public and private schools. Her philosophy of education is that all students can learn and must be provided the accommodations, supports, and strategies to succeed.

 

Ms. Johnson considers teaching a calling and enjoys serving in urban education. She approaches life with passion and teaching is included. She enjoys writing poetry, traveling, and spending time with her family. One of her favorite quotes by Yeats states “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire”.

 

Ms. Johnson received her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in August of 2003. She received her Master of Education degree from Lakeland College in August of 2011. She received a Teacher of the Year Award from MMABSE in May 2012.
